Tips:
  • Part-timers are paid per course, so the pay is the same for teaching a five-week summer or winter intersession as for teaching a 17-week Fall or Spring semester course.
  • Contact Academic Affairs to indicate interest in working as a substitute.
  • Adjuncts may serve as appointed vice chairs of departments and be paid for ancillary, non-teaching work, such as curriculum writing, grant writing, and student club advising. This paid work does not count toward the 60% maximum workload. Let your chair know if you are interested.
  • Check the seniority list for your discipline to be sure you have been offered a class before someone with lower rank. Academic Affairs and your department chair have updated copies of the lists.
