Bargaining... Benefits... Back to School!
Posted On: Sep 262, 2019

Welcome to the 2019-2020 academic year, especially to those of you who are joining our ranks as new full-time or part-time faculty members. We in the Guild know that your experience working in the LACCD will be memorable. The Guild, through our campus chapter presidents and grievance reps, stands ready to answer any questions you have about wages, hours, and working conditions. Be sure that you familiarize yourself with our Collective Bargaining AgreementIn addition, new adjunct faculty should review the Adjunct Survival Guide.

Speaking of our Collective Bargaining Agreement, we’re getting ready to enter into negotiations for a new collective bargaining agreement. It’s an exciting time and we’re looking forward to making our already strong contract even better. Make sure your voices are heard! If you didn’t already fill out a survey on Opening Day or at a campus chapter meeting, you can still submit your ideas at our upcoming Health and Financial Awareness Conference on September 27 or by filling out the survey that will be available online following the Conference for a limited time.

Stay informed about the negotiations process. Attend chapter meetings on your campus. Read the Real News and special Loud and Clear bulletins. Your voice matters, now and throughout the negotiations process.

In Solidarity,
Joanne Waddell
AFT 1521 President
